- Good verbal and written communication skills
- You must have the right to work in the UK and have been a UK resident for a minimum of three years
- Demonstrable interest in the natural world – from previous study, volunteering etc.

- Experience in the use of Excel –willingness to learn to use databases and geographical information systems
- Sound decision making skills based on data and evidence
- Not suitable for those who already hold a level 6 (degree level) qualification in a similar subject. Those with level 6 qualifications in an unrelated subject are eligible to apply
- Effective planning skills able to prioritise and deliver to tight deadlines
- Any qualification(s) which give the required number (103) of UCAS points. The apprenticeship is a fully funded 53 month learning commitment, resulting in a degree level qualification
- Available to those 18 or over. There are no upper age restrictions
