Equipment & Lab Ops Support Engineer, Member of Technical Staff

• Oversee daily operation of battery‑production and high‑throughput lab equipment, maintaining performance and safety compliance.
• Coordinate procurement, installation and commissioning of new equipment across process, procurement and equipment teams.
• Develop and refine preventative maintenance plans with the maintenance team to reduce downtime.
• Manage equipment documentation (specifications, drawings, manuals) for permits and safety compliance.
• Work with industrial layout engineers to assess facility readiness and optimize equipment placement.
• Prepare sites with project managers for installation or relocation of large‑scale equipment, ensuring infrastructure readiness.
• Provide engineering support for process flow optimization, including tool relocations and system reconfigurations.
• Propose and implement solutions to boost efficiency, reliability and performance of lab operations.
• Lead equipment shutdowns during site‑wide shutdowns, minimizing disruption and adhering to schedules.
• Support safety protocol development, conducting hazard analyses and risk assessments for lab equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions, collaborating with internal teams and vendors for rapid resolution.
• Identify and address operational inefficiencies or safety concerns, driving continuous improvement.
• Participate in cross‑functional teams to advance process and operational improvements.
• Perform work in dry rooms, fume hoods, labs or gloveboxes requiring fine motor skills.
• Sit or stand for extended periods; perform reaching and twisting motions.

Requirements

The position requires on‑site work five days a week in environments such as dry rooms, fume hoods, labs or gloveboxes, demanding fine motor skills, prolonged standing or sitting, reaching, twisting, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lb. Direct interaction with teammates is essential for building trust and effective collaboration.

• Experience with equipment procurement, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Proficient with engineering software such as AutoCAD and MS Project.
• Knowledge of compliance regulations and safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and industry best practices.
• 1–2 years’ experience installing lab equipment in a battery company (preferred).
• Certifications in safety or quality management systems (ISO, Six Sigma, OSHA) are a plus.
• Background in battery production, manufacturing or high‑throughput processes.
• Strong technical communication skills in English; additional languages (German, Japanese, Korean) a plus.
• Lift up to 25 lb as needed.

Benefits
