The Role

Overview

Evaluates bid specs, takes pipe takeoffs, estimates mechanical systems, liaises with subcontractors.

Tasks

-Develop RFIs and clarifications to ensure adequate subcontractor coverage. -Participate in networking events to represent the company and cultivate relationships with vendors and subcontractors. -Prepares and maintains status of plan reproduction. -Submit all bids and budgets by the deadline. -Perform accurate takeoffs and estimate associated costs. -Enter all relevant information into the estimating software -Maintain effective communication with customers, vendors, and internal departments. -Collaborate with the Project Management team to review drawings and job costs, identifying areas of concern and any pending subcontractor or material vendor awards. -Ensure proper communication of the project schedule or addendums with subcontractors. -Perform comprehensive bid day analysis and scoping of specific trades. -Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions as necessary. -Ensure proper subcontractor coverage on bid day and contact vendors for additional bids as needed. -Evaluate bid specifications and drawings for mechanical systems including chilled water, condenser water, glycol, and refrigeration. -Assertively follow up with and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors -Furnish subcontractors with essential project information, including details about the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, and permit status. -Ensure all bid documents and subcontractor buyout information are accurately and promptly transferred to the Project Management team. The goal is to achieve 100% turnover of awarded projects within 24 hours of notification. -Prepare subcontractor bid packages for supervisor approval. -Create and maintain bid lists ensuring the right subcontractors are selected for each project.

What You Bring

-Ability to work full-time in-office, collaborating closely with business development, operations, engineering, and other departments. -Experience or willingness to learn about mechanical systems, including HVAC and duct systems -Understanding of margins and sales, with the ability to read specifications, addendums, and RFIs. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project). -Experience with estimating software -Excellent relationship-building skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. -Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study. -Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus -Construction industry for more than 3-5 years in business operations or projects -Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. -Comprehensive understanding of the scope for assigned trades.
