The Opportunity: as Team Leader – Protection and Metering Design you will lead a team of Design Engineers responsible for delivering high‑quality designs that support our projects, network operations and asset maintenance, while providing specialist technical advice and developing design standards.
You will oversee the delivery of protection and metering designs both internally and through external providers, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with Transgrid standards.
- Lead and review protection and metering designs ensuring compliance with standards.
- Plan, manage, and report on design projects, coordinating internal and external resources.
- Drive peer reviews, technical assessments, lessons learned, and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain team productivity, quality standards, and technical competency.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, has demonstrated experience managing engineering teams or mentoring senior engineers, and possesses strong hands‑on knowledge of protection and metering design for high‑voltage transmission, generation or distribution systems.
A solid understanding of Safety in Design, the National Electricity Rules, relevant Australian standards and design quality‑assurance processes is essential.
- Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams or mentoring senior engineers.
- Strong hands‑on experience in high‑voltage protection and metering design.
- Knowledge of Safety in Design, National Electricity Rules and Australian standards.
- Experience reviewing and approving external designs with quality assurance processes.
