The role is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound domestic shipments between suppliers, warehouses, and the plant. It creates a seamless transportation mechanism to enable just-in-time material delivery for continuous production. Shipment consolidation is performed to achieve cost optimization.
Import and export operations are overseen, covering all aspects of freight movement and EXIM documentation for customs clearance. The incumbent works with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and freight forwarders to ensure on-time delivery of sea and air shipments. Knowledge of various Incoterms and duty-free licensing schemes such as EPCG, EOU, STPI, and MOOWR is required.
Compliance with duty-free licenses, advance licensing, and other trade regulations—including EPR, BIS, anti-dumping, WPC, LMPC, and MRP—is ensured. The role also focuses on freight and duty cost optimization and maintains documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
Cross-functional coordination includes OTD/SLA monitoring, collection of shipments to the factory, and preparation of monthly KPI and performance reports. Continuous improvement activities target process efficiency, GST input-credit recovery, and adherence to subcontractor documentation under GST law. Coordination with service providers, buyers, and the import team supports seamless operations.
The position drives year-over-year freight cost reductions, establishes optimal freight cost benchmarks, and implements best practices across factory operations. KPI goals are reviewed monthly and counter-measures are managed to meet financial and performance targets. Support is provided for global, regional, and local learning & development initiatives such as the Freight Management Playbook and KPI scorecards.
Candidates must hold a degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field and possess 8-10 years of relevant experience. Required technical skills include familiarity with supply chain best practices, ERP systems (Pronto, BAAN, SAP, Oracle), and fluency in English plus Indian languages. Strong cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and MS Office proficiency are essential.
