Description

The Safety Support Associate role at our Los Angeles RHC location works part‑time on Saturdays and Sundays (7:00 am‑3:30 pm) with an hourly wage of $21.71‑$26.36, non‑exempt. The associate proactively ensures a safe environment for staff, participants, and visitors by monitoring facilities, engaging participants, and supporting crisis response, while assisting with security protocols and documentation.

• Ensure overall safety of the interim housing site using observation, de‑escalation, and participant engagement.
• Coordinate with the onsite case management team and contracted security agencies to maintain site security.
• Conduct regular rounds of facilities and grounds, reporting any discrepancies or concerns.
• Assist the Associate Director with safety documentation, written correspondence, and report preparation.
• Respond to security or crisis situations using non‑violent crisis intervention and verbal de‑escalation strategies.
• Develop forms, procedures, and manuals for Metro LA Interim Housing.
• Complete required reports and attend meetings to provide input on safety operations.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, participants, and stakeholders, building positive relationships.

Requirements

All employees must be authorized to work in the U.S., reside in California, and meet general staff requirements such as CPR/First Aid certification, background screening, and health clearances. The position is on‑site; hybrid or remote work is not offered except for approved off‑site locations tied to operational needs.

• Demonstrate analytical skills and attention to detail for data interpretation and decision‑making.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Show creativity, initiative, and proactive problem‑solving abilities.
• Preferred: at least one year of experience working with vulnerable populations, security, or de‑escalation/non‑violent crisis intervention.
• Minimum: all experience levels welcome; ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (paid); flexible availability including evenings/weekends; successful background, TB test, and other clearances.
