Technical Supervisor, Steam Distribution Technical Services
Con Edison
Provides electric, gas, and steam services to customers in the New York City area.
Oversees maintenance, repair, and reliability of steam distribution systems and leads technicians.
Work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles and/or equipment
The Technical Supervisor ensures the reliability of the Steam Distribution System by leading a team in the efficient repair, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of technical systems and equipment.
Perform work in underground vaults through manholes
Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment
Adheres to Company rules and terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Determines appropriate disciplinary action, conducts interviews, participates in settlement of grievances and evaluates subordinates work performance.
Leads troubleshooting, repair efforts, and restoration of equipment and controls.
Follow Cyber Security Standards to maintain and ensure safe operation of Steam Distribution cyber assets.
Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities
Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and program procedures applicable to Steam Operations Steam Distribution department.
Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Responsible for ensuring the safety, productivity, and quality of maintenance work performed by mechanics and technicians, while supervising union personnel, enforcing contractual and local work rules, assigning jobs based on weekly schedules, and managing administrative tasks in MAXIMO.
Facilitates management meetings to report job progress and status, maintains full knowledge of workflows and processes, and submits internal and external work requests clearly and concisely through MAXIMO.
Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Develops and implements maintenance plans and schedules, coordinates and analyzes preventive and corrective actions on equipment and technical systems, and recommends procedures to enhance reliability for current and future operations.
