The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the execution of federal construction projects within QGS’s Acquire‑Comply‑Execute lifecycle. Reporting to a Project Manager and Program Manager, the APM coordinates safety, quality, cost, schedule, and compliance activities while partnering with enterprise functional teams such as Safety/Quality, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Cyber/IT, and Compliance. This role prepares the individual for future Project Manager responsibilities.
- Support Project Manager throughout Acquire–Comply–Execute stages.
- Coordinate Integrated Project Teams across Operations, Safety/Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Participate in project meetings, track actions, and prepare documentation.
- Compile artifacts for stage‑gate reviews and maintain audit‑ready records.
- Facilitate communication among internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and partners.
- Prepare client‑facing materials and meeting agendas under guidance.
- Track subcontractor deliverables, RFIs, and submittals for timely approvals.
- Assist with monthly forecasting, cost tracking, trend logs, and variance analysis.
- Ensure cost documentation complies with DCAA audit requirements.
- Identify schedule risks, escalate to Project Manager, and support mitigation planning.
- Maintain compliance with FAR/DFARS, DCAA, CUI protection, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Update site‑specific plans (APP/JHAs, Environmental Plans, QCPs) and risk/opportunity logs.
- Generate weekly progress reports, look‑ahead schedules, and cost/schedule metrics (CPI, SPI).
- Upload and version‑control all project documentation in the QGS OPS Platform.

The position is classified as non‑exempt and operates remotely across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, with up to 50% travel and occasional overnight stays. It interfaces with Construction Operations, Safety/Quality, Finance, HR, IT/Cyber, Legal/Compliance, and Preconstruction teams. Physical demands are minimal and work is performed primarily in an office environment.
- 2–4 years experience supporting federal or commercial construction projects (preferred $1M+ projects).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- PMP or CAPM certification preferred; PMP required for advancement.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; support provided if not held at hire.
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DCAA, and federal construction compliance.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a matrixed, fast‑paced federal contracting environment.
