The Project Manager of Construction & Commissioning (PMCC) oversees field operations for a project, ensuring that scope, schedule, and budget are controlled and supported with input from project stakeholders. The role is critical to delivering site work safely, to required quality standards, on time and within budget. Ideal candidates bring extensive construction site management experience, strong leadership, and rapid problem‑solving abilities.
Key responsibilities include defining site‑work strategy with the Project Director, Construction Leader and Site Manager, and proactively planning site mobilization—covering tooling, safety equipment, warehousing, office infrastructure, worker accommodations and required training. The PMCC prepares detailed mobilization plans, leads tollgate reviews, tracks documentation, and establishes financial and physical progress reporting structures that are updated monthly. Additional duties involve weekly schedule updates, risk mitigation, vendor package management, RFQ preparation, and leading site demobilization at project close‑out.
The position requires a strong EHS culture, attention to quality management, and a solid background in hydroelectric projects. A college or bachelor’s degree in management or mechanical/electrical engineering—or equivalent field experience—is preferred, along with 10+ years of project‑management experience in construction or commissioning (or 3‑5 years of direct experience). Candidates must possess excellent bilingual communication skills, demonstrated leadership, and be willing to travel across Canada; a Project Management certification and familiarity with hydropower technology are desirable.
