Description

The Renewals Engineer supports the Renewals Manager by planning, scheduling and delivering renewal, rehabilitation and reseal projects for our contractor. The position requires strong collaboration with Journey Management, Asset Management, Quality Management, Customer Coordination and Contract Administration teams.

In this role you will work closely with the Quality Manager to meet design specifications, manage environmental consents and ensure compliance, and act as a liaison at stakeholder meetings. Field duties include measuring works, conducting audits, gathering quality data, preparing claims and notices, and handling documentation. You will also source quotes, produce clear reports and coordinate with production teams and suppliers to drive improvements.

• Support the Renewals Manager in planning, scheduling and delivering renewal, rehab and reseal activities.
• Develop strong working relationships across Journey Management, Asset Management, Quality Management, Customer Coordination and Contract Administration.
• Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure design specifications are met and drive continuous improvement.
• Obtain all required consents, maintain Environmental Management Plans, report breaches and ensure compliance with conditions.
• Attend stakeholder meetings, communicate site requirements such as detours and access, and provide timely information.
• Perform field tasks including measuring jobs, conducting audits, collecting QA data, preparing claims, pricing work and managing documentation.
• Source quotes and produce clear, efficient reports.
• Liaise with production teams and suppliers, recommend improvements, oversee equipment selection and participate in hands‑on activities when needed.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who hold a BE, NZCE, engineering diploma or equivalent experience, with at least five years in civil construction, infrastructure or temporary traffic management. Proven leadership experience, a solid understanding of relevant standards and legislation, current safety certifications such as STMS or ConstructSafe, and a Class 1 driver’s licence are required.

• Demonstrated leadership experience, able to mentor staff and foster a positive team culture.
• Good understanding of departmental operations, industry standards and relevant legislation for traffic management and civil works.
• Current safety‑related certification (e.g., STMS, ConstructSafe).
• Class 1 driver’s licence.
