The Ironworker Leadman will direct and supervise a crew in planning, layout, installation and alignment of ironwork, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, industry standards and codes. This role coordinates journeymen and craftsmen, motivates the team to work safely and efficiently, and conducts daily inspections and safety audits to maintain high‑quality outcomes.
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards before work begins
- Implement lockout/tag‑out and 100 % tie‑off/fall protection procedures
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and ensure proper JSA documentation
- Lead daily toolbox meetings and provide safety training to crew members
- Inspect crew work for compliance with contract plans, specifications and standards
- Ensure all crew members hold required certifications and licenses
- Report all safety incidents and near‑misses to supervisors promptly
- Perform basic calculations and measurements needed for onsite tasks
- Lift, push, pull and carry objects up to 50 lb; work at heights using required PPE

The position requires full‑time availability typically amounting to 50 hours per week, with shifts up to 12 hours that involve hard physical labor in varying weather and site conditions. Travel up to 90 percent of the time is expected, with the employee working directly on project sites and occasionally commuting to a residence of record. Workers must wear personal protective equipment, be able to lift 50 lb, operate at heights, and adhere to lockout/tag‑out, fall protection and other safety protocols.
- Maintain at least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with NCCER certification
- Demonstrate supervisory skills and ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals
- Adapt to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, noise and other challenging site conditions
- Travel up to 90 % of time, residing on‑site with intermittent travel to home base
