The Principal Software Engineer – Platform & Services will define and drive the data‑as‑a‑service (DaaS) and platform architecture for the Digital Manufacturing & Supply Chain Platform. The role sets technical strategy, establishes standards, and leads the design of secure, scalable, high‑performance service layers that expose curated enterprise and IoT data to downstream consumers such as applications, analytics, and simulation workloads at global scale.
Collaboration with Data Engineering and product/architecture leadership will transform data models and pipelines into well‑governed APIs, microservices, and event streams that enable real‑time insights, predictive analytics, and digital‑twin experiences, including NVIDIA Omniverse‑driven simulations.
- Define domain boundaries, data contracts, and interaction patterns (REST, gRPC, GraphQL, pub/sub) for real‑time and batch consumption.
- Set and enforce API lifecycle standards, including versioning, documentation, and governance across teams.
- Lead design and review of high‑throughput microservices and event‑driven integrations (Kafka/Event Hubs) to ensure reliability, elasticity, and cost efficiency.
- Champion cloud‑native solutions on AWS/Azure, container orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes, and implement SLOs, error budgets, and incident response.
- Establish observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) and integrate telemetry into operational dashboards.
- Enforce security and compliance (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC) and drive data governance with lineage, quality, and stewardship.
- Partner with data engineering, product, and manufacturing experts to meet digital‑twin, analytics, and low‑latency use cases.
- Mentor senior engineers and promote best practices in API design, DevOps automation, and platform reliability.
- Evaluate and select tooling such as API gateways and observability stacks.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 14–18+ years of software engineering experience, including platform, integration, or large‑scale distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in API development (REST, gRPC, GraphQL) and microservices architecture; hands‑on with event streaming (Kafka/Event Hubs).
- Strong proficiency with AWS/Azure, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines at scale.
- Demonstrated experience designing security‑first platforms (OAuth2/JWT, RBAC) and implementing production‑grade observability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with API management platforms and developer portals.
- Knowledge of data virtualization/semantic layers for self‑service analytics.
- Hands‑on exposure to OpenUSD/Omniverse integrations for digital‑twin and simulation.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 data integration patterns across MES, SCADA, PLM, ERP.
- Contributions to open‑source projects or relevant publications.
