Pre-Construction Manager

Description

The Pre‑Construction Manager drives business development, marketing, and bid acquisition for complex electrical projects. This role creates accurate, competitive, and profitable proposals, calculates construction costs, builds relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, and sets market goals while ensuring regional workforce stability, profitability, and cost control.

• Lead business development and product‑service marketing initiatives.
• Identify and evaluate bid opportunities using a Go/No‑Go process.
• Prepare competitive bid proposals, scope letters, and detailed cost estimates.
• Manage estimating staff and coordinate estimating, sales, and project meetings.
• Conduct job walks and site visits to assess field conditions affecting bids.
• Develop value‑engineering suggestions and budget pricing while adhering to company policies.
• Oversee preconstruction activities for design‑build and design‑assist projects.
• Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, and bids to identify risks and scope.
• Generate and manage RFIs to resolve document conflicts and incorporate responses.
• Request, review, and validate vendor and equipment quotes, maintaining vendor relationships.
• Design electrical service systems for projects, staying current with new products and methods.
• Prepare market collateral, presentations, and lead project interview processes.
• Maintain Accubid pricing and labor units to ensure up‑to‑date estimates.
• Facilitate turnover meetings with operations upon award of projects.
• Collaborate with operations to smooth transition from preconstruction to construction.
• Cultivate industry relationships through networking events, client activities, and charitable functions.
• Track bid progress and keep management, clients, and partners informed.
• Assemble technical proposals, prequalification packages, narratives, and resumes.

Requirements

• Travel up to 50% of the time as required by regional needs.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction, electrical design or related field with 4+ years estimating experience.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, REVU, Navisworks, SketchUp, MS Office 365, Bluebeam, Berg Sales, and Accubid.
• Skilled with measuring tools, cable design software, and understanding of legal and labor regulations.
• Knowledge of electrical materials, codes, installation methods, and multidisciplinary construction drawings.
• Familiar with construction terminology, trends, and local market contacts.
• Ability to perform conceptual estimates and compute financial figures such as discounts and volumes.
• Strong written and verbal communication, report writing, and problem‑solving abilities.

Benefits
