About the Role

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures; attend safety meetings and participate in safety program. • Operate heavy equipment of various sizes, including cranes and loaders. • Unload scrap material, push shred pile, move material throughout the yard, and load trucks. • Perform daily equipment inspections and report defects or needed repairs to supervisor. • Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards. • Operate small equipment such as a forklift or skid steer when needed. • Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, shoveling, and cleaning areas or equipment. • Communicate over radio with teammates for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures. • Cross‑train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.

Nucor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace. • Experience using front‑end loader, excavator, or scrap handler in an industrial/outdoor environment. • At least two years of knowledge of heavy‑equipment operating principles. • Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions. • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. • Dependable attendance and consistent schedule. • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations. • Availability for a 5‑day work week, Mon‑Fri 7:50 am‑4:30 pm, with Saturdays as needed. • Flexibility to work overtime, off‑hours, weekends, and holidays in an outdoor industrial environment. • Mechanical background/knowledge is a plus.
