About the Role
The role focuses on safety‑critical field work at client sites. The technician conducts comprehensive safety checks, cleans, lubricates and tests the overspeed governor, verifies static balancing and adjusts counterweights, and services the Safety Action Mechanism. Under senior guidance they install door skates, set door locks, inspect mechanical clearances, test electrical functions, and configure controller parameters while adjusting acceleration, deceleration and ride quality to Otis standards. They also inspect motor pits, clear escalator debris, perform a full motor cycle test, and compile inspection, field‑test and safety audit reports. • Conduct pre‑job safety checks at client sites. • Clean, lubricate and test the overspeed governor. • Verify and adjust static balancing and counterweight limits. • Lubricate and test the Safety Action Mechanism. • Install door skates and set locks, ensuring bolt tightness at each landing. • Perform shaft‑travel safety inspections for mechanical interference. • Test all electrical functions, including doors, buttons and intercom. • Escalate site concerns to the Supervisor and complete NCR documentation. • Set controller contact parameters and place the lift in normal operation. • Adjust acceleration, deceleration and ride quality per Otis standards. • Inspect and clean motor pits and escalator steps of construction debris. • Conduct full motor cycle test after removing comb plates to detect obstructions. • Prepare installation inspection, field‑test data, safety check and audit reports.
