About the Role

The Substation Electrician role focuses on maintaining the reliability and safety of the high‑voltage network by installing, maintaining, fault‑finding and commissioning substation assets. You will respond to system incidents, perform high‑voltage switching and support construction and maintenance activities as part of a safety‑first, collaborative team. In this position you will work across the full lifecycle of substation operations, champion safe work practices, prepare safety documentation, lead crews when required, accurately record work in our systems and help develop apprentices and junior technicians. • Maintain, install, fault‑find and commission substation assets • Perform high‑voltage switching and support emergency response • Respond to system incidents and provide on‑call or after‑hours support • Lead crews, prepare safety documentation and record work in reporting systems • Mentor apprentices and junior technicians to build technical capability

What You Bring

No prior substation experience is required; a structured training program provides the skills and licences needed for high‑voltage switching, high‑risk work, equipment diagnostics, installation and commissioning of electrical assets. Essential qualifications include a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent), familiarity with the Wiring Rules and Australian Standards, flexibility for on‑call and after‑hours response, and a current Australian driver’s licence. Desirable credentials are a NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisor Certificate or Contractor Licence, the ability to read schematics, knowledge of sub‑station secondary systems and experience with diagnostic testing techniques. • Hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent trade qualification) • Possess a current Australian driver’s licence and knowledge of the Wiring Rules • Be flexible to work on‑call and after‑hours shifts • Desirable: NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisor Certificate or Contractor Licence • Desirable: Ability to read schematics, understand sub‑station secondary systems and use diagnostic testing
