About Transgrid

Born in 1995 from the split of NSW’s Electricity Commission, it evolved into Australia’s largest high

voltage grid operator.

Manages over 13,000 km of transmission lines and 104 substations across NSW and the ACT, linking into the National Electricity Market.

Over a decade, rolled out a A$16.5 billion upgrade program, including mega

projects like EnergyConnect and HumeLink to reinforce energy superhighways.

Commercial arm Lumea has added 55+ renewable generators, contributing to the clean energy transition.

Backed by a major consortium including Spark, Utilities Trust of Australia, CDPQ, ADIA, and OMERS following a A$10.3 billion lease deal in 2015.

Key projects include the multi

state HumeLink (underway) and VNI West interconnector, despite community pushback.
