About the Role
Safety is the top priority at Nucor; candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Perform preventive maintenance on presses, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines using manuals and engineering specifications. • Diagnose mechanical issues by observing equipment, listening for abnormalities, and employing precision measuring and testing instruments. • Disassemble devices with hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools to remove defective parts and examine their form and texture. • Estimate task duration and assess dimensional changes using the onsite machine shop. • Adjust functional parts and control instruments with hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. • Inform production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitor compliance to control downtime. • Fabricate repair parts as needed with machine‑shop assistance. • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories, checking stock levels and notifying the supervisor of shortages. • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve job results. • Ensure production quality by maintaining proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications include at least one year of experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing facility or completion of an accredited industrial technician program, familiarity with blueprints and schematics, and the ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Preferred qualifications are two to three years of industrial mechanic experience and, optionally, industrial electrical experience.

Benefits
The position is located in the Nucor Warehouse Systems division in Vernon, CA, with a compensation range of $24.11 to $25.32 per hour based on experience, plus a weekly production bonus. The role focuses on ensuring machinery and mechanical equipment operate smoothly through preventive maintenance on presses, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, following diagrams, manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
