Safety Trainee
Assist safety manager with safety programs, training, audits, and compliance.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Conduct contractor safety orientations for new contractors and sub‑contractors • Assist in developing facility‑specific procedures (JHAs, hazard assessments, LOTO) • Audit onsite contractors for safety and health compliance and follow up on deficiencies • Inform Safety Engineers of safety items arising during construction • Promote near‑miss and incident reporting among contractors and ensure corrective actions • Work with plant core teams to investigate accidents and incidents • Prepare and present monthly/annual training and safety meeting topics • Develop, revise, and implement site‑specific safety policies and safe work procedures • Perform air sampling and noise level testing as needed • Attend site meetings when a Safety Engineer cannot attend • Enforce safety rules and foster positive employee safety attitudes • Ensure proper documentation and record‑keeping on site • Recommend company safety policy changes to corporate staff • Serve as first contact for OSHA or other safety regulators

What You Bring
• Travel frequently throughout the region and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field • Strong verbal and written communication with all personnel and regulators • Internship or experience in a construction safety environment • Ability to organize daily tasks and work independently with minimal supervision • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer use for spreadsheets and documents • Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred)
