About the Role

• Aggressively maintain the design schedule to meet customer demands. • Develop and implement employee training and PCIP programs; conduct performance appraisals and recommend compensation adjustments. • Mentor, coach, and hold the Design Group accountable while updating design policies, procedures, and practices. • Plan department staffing levels, manage supply and equipment budgets, and oversee wage increases. • Lead recruiting, interview processes, and make hiring recommendations for the Design Group. • Participate with the Engineering Manager in strategic planning for the Design Group and Engineering Department. • Provide backup support to the Engineering Manager as needed. • Ensure control of design program versions to guarantee correct usage. • Collaborate regularly with Design Engineers, District Sales Managers, Customer Service Representatives, other department managers, the General Manager, and Nucor customers.

What You Bring

Safety is a core value at Nucor; the successful candidate must be capable of leading and upholding safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam prior to hire. Preferred backgrounds include a structural engineering focus, knowledge of building construction, familiarity with current building codes and industry practices, and experience with pre‑engineered metal building systems. • BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering (ABET‑accredited). • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam. • Structural engineering focus (preferred). • Basic knowledge of building construction and current building codes. • Experience with pre‑engineered metal building systems.
