About the Role
The role will manage Rail Systems projects through the development of specifications, tender documents, procurement and delivery. You will oversee the design, construction, testing and commissioning of track systems, including supply contracts for slab track, switches and crossings and long welded rail, ensuring delivery to time, budget, scope and quality as HS2 moves into the design phase of these transformational projects. You will support one or more Heads of Delivery or Client Directors, monitor change and cost impacts, produce regular progress reports, and maintain project plans that identify and mitigate risks. Coordination of matrixed team members, agency staff and consultants, as well as integration with other HS2 and Network Rail initiatives, will be essential. • Manage Rail Systems projects from specification and tendering through design, construction, testing and commissioning. • Deliver supply contracts for Slab Track, Switches and Crossings, and Long Welded Rail within time, budget, scope and quality. • Provide project management support to Heads of Delivery/Client Directors and monitor change, cost and scope impacts. • Produce robust reporting on project progress to senior stakeholders and programme forums. • Develop, maintain and analyse project plans, identify risks and implement mitigation actions. • Coordinate matrixed teams, agency staff and consultants to meet schedule and integration requirements. • Manage package contractors and ensure integration with other HS2 and Network Rail projects. • Control input to client cost estimates, logistics, milestones and safety targets under NEC3 contracts. • Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in all work and adhere to organisational EDI policies.

What You Bring
The successful candidate will have an advanced APM Project Manager skill set, strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and influencing abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders. Required knowledge includes public procurement regulations, contract structures, risk and schedule management, and the technical scope of HS2 rail systems. A relevant degree or equivalent experience and a full lifecycle rail project background are required. • Demonstrate advanced APM Project Manager competency, problem‑solving, decision quality and influencing skills. • Hold a degree in project management, engineering, commercial management or equivalent experience. • Experience across the full rail project lifecycle, multi‑disciplinary collaboration and people management in a matrix environment.
