About the Role
The role involves designing all aspects of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, and stability bracing, while ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. • Develop safe and economical structures that meet project requirements and adhere to industry codes and standards. • Perform frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis using proprietary software to ensure structural integrity. • Collaborate with the Detailing Department and team members to communicate design requirements and ensure seamless project execution. • Review and check structural drawings for accuracy. • Embrace continuous learning and collaborate across divisions to find innovative engineering solutions. • Design diverse projects that present new challenges and expand engineering skills. • Create comprehensive designs covering the entire building from base plate to roof. • Work with on‑site fabrication shops to see designs realized and maintain quality control. • Participate in team collaboration across departments fostering shared ideas and creativity.

What You Bring
Safety is paramount at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. • Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam before the hire date. • Proficient verbal and written communication in English. • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. • Educational focus on structural engineering. • Basic knowledge of building construction and current codes. • Understanding of standard industry practices. • Experience with pre‑engineered metal building systems.
