About the Role
The Shipping/Crating Specialist is responsible for packing product into pre‑cut crates for domestic or foreign shipment, verifying shipments for correct materials and handling instructions, and loading product and related parts onto trucks and flatbeds. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Perform assemblies of crates in a safe and organized fashion using pneumatic nail guns and staplers. • Prepare and crate doors and parts orders for shipment per specifications and requirements; pull stock components (small parts, hardware, and weldments). • Check shipment for correct materials, packing and crating, tagging and handling instructions. • Operate forklift to load crates into or on trucks, vans or flatbeds in a safe fashion. • Perform general housekeeping practices in and around the receiving and storage areas. • Use tape measure and operate tools such as nail gun, stapler and air ratchet. • Prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Safely operate a forklift. • Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations. • Perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages and interpret bar graphs. • Solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.

What You Bring
The position requires the ability to work Monday‑Friday 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, read and understand various documents, use measuring tools and operate nail guns, staplers, and air ratchets, maintain high attention to detail, prioritize workload, safely operate a forklift, perform basic math calculations, solve practical problems, lift up to 75 pounds occasionally, and frequently squat, kneel, and stand. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, or two to four years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Read and understand documents such as check lists, packing slips, manuals and drawings. • Maintain high attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence. • Lift 50‑75 pounds occasionally. • Squat, kneel and stand frequently. • High school diploma or GED, or 2‑4 years related experience/training, or equivalent education/experience.
