Perform equipment operation, maintenance, and cleaning tasks in a recycling plant.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures • Inspect equipment daily and report defects or needed repairs • Remove metal and debris from conveyor belt • Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, and equipment cleanup • Cross‑train and assist other employees as needed • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment (shredder, eddy current, etc.) • Replace shredder liners, grates, and hammers • Operate front‑end loader, excavator, forklift, skid‑steer or scrap handler in an industrial/outdoor environment • Stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift • Complete tasks safely and effectively with minimal supervision • Recognize hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations • Identify and differentiate metal materials (preferred)

What You Bring
Safety is the most important part of all jobs at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) • Lift up to 50 lb • Navigate stairs and work at heights above one story • Understand heavy‑equipment operating principles and work under varying conditions • Flexibly work off‑hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required • Communicate written and oral instructions in English (preferred) • Bilingual Spanish preferred • Strong mechanical abilities (welding, fabrication, tool knowledge) a plus • Prior maintenance experience a plus
