About the Role

Basic Job Functions: The driver safely transports steel joists, decks, coils, other steel products, wood, and related freight to designated delivery points. Drivers must keep accurate driver logs and comply with all local, state, and federal DOT laws and company policies. The role requires effective teamwork, variable day or night schedules with little notice, and the ability to return home most evenings. Loads must be inspected, legally secured, and verified against paperwork. • Transport steel joists, decks, coils, wood and other freight safely to designated delivery points. • Maintain accurate driver logs and comply with all DOT regulations and company policies. • Inspect loads, secure them legally, and verify paperwork accuracy. • Work variable schedules, including day and night shifts with short notice; home most evenings. • Demonstrate safety leadership and uphold safety policies and housekeeping standards.

What You Bring

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications include three years of verifiable commercial driving experience, a minimum age of 25, a solid driving record (no more than two preventable accidents in the past two years and no more than three moving violations in the past three years), no violations for operating a CMV after being placed out‑of‑service, no prior drug or DUI convictions in a commercial vehicle (and none in a private vehicle for the past ten years), no positive or refused DOT drug/alcohol tests, passing all DOT and company written, driving, and drug screen tests, a current Class A CDL, and meeting all DOT physical and skills requirements. Preferred Qualifications: flatbed and oversize load experience, as well as specific experience hauling joist, deck, or steel coil. • Minimum: 3 years commercial driving experience, age 25+, clean driving record (≤2 preventable accidents, ≤3 moving violations), no DUI/drug convictions, pass DOT drug/alcohol tests, hold a valid Class A CDL, meet DOT physical requirements. • Preferred: flatbed and oversize load experience; experience hauling joist, deck, or steel coil.
