About the Role
The CGL2 QC Technician at Nucor Steel Indiana in Crawfordsville, IN is responsible for inspecting, testing, verifying, and documenting produced material, as well as handling general housekeeping and maintenance. The technician maintains equipment and validates inspection and testing processes, ensuring documentation is accurate and up‑to‑date. Strong written and verbal communication is required to collaborate with metallurgical and technical staff on product and process trials, share data, and identify defects or quality issues. The role also involves understanding customer expectations and product applications to support the delivery of high‑quality products. Work hours include rotating shifts with scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays. • Inspect, test, verify, and document material production. • Perform routine housekeeping and general maintenance. • Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment. • Validate inspection and testing procedures. • Record and update quality documentation accurately. • Communicate findings with metallurgical and technical teams. • Conduct trials for product and process improvements. • Identify and report product defects and quality issues. • Work rotating shifts with required overtime, including nights and weekends. • Lead and uphold safety policies and housekeeping standards.
