Tasks
-Solve unique and complex electrical engineering problems. -Perform standard and complex electrical engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology and principles and other viable approaches. -Mentor, develop and support team in technical skills. -Responsible for leading and creating new conceptual designs and overseeing the work of external detailed designers. -Liaison/ direct contractors on company policy, standards and best practices -Analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures related to lines and power engineering. -Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services. -Capital project engineering execution with a focus on substation design, protection and control systems, system studies, automation, integration, and settings including all phases such as: scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, contract management and design, engineering design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. -Utilize knowledge to influence and guide department engineers. -Provide technical leadership in complex projects that have a wide impact on the department. -Ensure all substation engineering designs implemented by the company’s projects meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and NY PSC, etc.) .

-Strong management and leadership skills, ability to drive change and adoption of new technologies. -Required Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering TechnologyOr Associated Degree with more than 20 years relevant experience in energy industry required.A minimum of 7+ years of technical experience in protection engineering or related field -Work independently with little supervision -Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology -Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization) -Awareness and understanding of key business drivers -Substation Equipment Commissioning - Expert/Competent1 -Note 1: 3 of the unique technical skills listed above must be at the Expert level. -Transmission Protection- Expert/Competent1 -Substation Protection - Expert/Competent1 -Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others - to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements -Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms. -A minimum of 7+ years of technical experience in protection engineering or related field -Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management. -Or Associated Degree with more than 20 years relevant experience in energy industry required. -Project Scoping and Estimating -
