The Role

Overview

Lead underground utility locating and SUE field work.

Tasks

-Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. -Support and mentor junior field staff as needed. -Approach tasks with a strong sense of urgency and accountability. -Perform utility mark-outs, surveying tasks, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) field activities with minimal supervision. -Maintain high standards of quality control and attention to detail in all aspects of fieldwork. -Document field data accurately through sketches, photos, spreadsheets, daily reports, and written summaries. -Read and interpret technical documents. -Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on vacuum excavation systems and field equipment. -Locate underground utilities using non-destructive methods, including electromagnetic induction (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR). -Operate vacuum excavation trucks and related equipment (e.g., air compressors, vacuum hoses, air lances, jackhammers, concrete saws, pogo-tampers, hand tools). -Assist senior team members with project coordination involving clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams. -Train on safe operation and maintenance of vehicles and tools in accordance with company safety standards.

What You Bring

-Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. -High school diploma or GED is strongly preferred. -Ability to work outside in all seasons and conditions. -Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance. -Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter. -Five (5+) years as SUE Technician I, Private Utility Locator, or related experience. -Basic knowledge of Land Surveying. (optional) -Demonstrated leadership skills. -Ability to walk, kneel, squat, and stand. -Must be able to pass Military / Government Background checks. -Ability to lift 60lbs. -Strong communication skills. -Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred -Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including overnight assignments.
