Lead mechanical engineer managing design, staff, and project delivery.
-Assures adherence to drawing production strategy and the utilization of the corporate design standards and specifications -Responsible for assuring the design has on construction documents -Implements corporate initiatives on streamlining systems and procedures -Serves as a champion of sustainable design for projects and knows how to implement into projects -Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring efforts/costs of discipline-related outside consultants -Participates in project staffing assignments -Creates discipline work plans for assigned projects. Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules -Develops training programs and seeks training opportunities for the PDG to help support career paths and enhance technical proficiency in the group -Researches, documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations -Assures adherence within the group to the discipline quality plan and procedures -Defines goals for engineering staff within PDG or office and advises on staffing levels -Participates in the professional community and trade organizations within discipline to promote the company and demonstrate leadership. May include participation in professional or trade association committees, officer positions, or publications of articles on Mechanical engineering -Takes an active role in quality assurance/quality control/best practices of Mechanical engineering work in the field. -Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record. Maintains ethics and professionalism -Plans production and prepares man-hour estimate and scope of work for project effort for all work in discipline -Performs yearly evaluations of staff within PDG or office and advises on salary adjustments and promotions -Writes discipline specifications for assigned projects -Monitors professional and trade publications and continuously evaluates new technologies for viability to Haskell Advises the Chief Mechanical Engineer on new technologies the company should be considered for incorporation into the AE practice -Provides leadership in the implementation of corporate quality processes -Participates as requested in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings, and specifications. Prepares inspection reports -Manages an engineering design staff on technical matters -Complies with state regulations regarding professional registrations -Directs technical efforts of discipline Interns, Designers, and Technicians assigned to the project -Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts and recommends systems, within discipline, produces pricing and proposal presentation documents, and outlines specifications -Makes technical presentations to internal and external customers -Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents -Assists in recruiting discipline staff -Participates in the professional community and trade organizations within discipline -Assists in developing yearly discipline budgets within the PDG -Creates technical presentations and articles on mechanical engineering topics suitable for publication and training for both internal and external audiences. May include articles, slide presentations, and videos -Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria -Responsible to produce well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness. -Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications -Assists Chief Mechanical Engineer in review and selection of discipline-specific analysis and modeling software -Assists in developing discipline budgets for projects -Assures adherence to drawing production strategy. Responsible to produce well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness -Assists in defining career paths for PDG or office staff. Assists discipline staff within PDG or office in developing individual goals and approves final goals -Keeps apprised of new technologies and assists in the incorporation of the new technologies into the A/E practice and discipline design standards -Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings -Participates in the development of the group and corporate standards and specifications committees -Advises and assists Construction Project Managers, Superintendents, and Subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents
-Awareness of resources to complete due diligence where limited information is provided -Minimum of 10 years of experience -Excellent organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously -High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook -Strong leadership and management skills -Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) LEED Accredited Professional is a plu -Profitability, Planning, and Scheduling -Prior experience designing mechanical systems for food and beverage facilities -Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively work with others and interact with all levels of management -Strong negotiation/conflict resolution skills -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -Creative, innovative, and on the leading edge of discipline technology and knowledgeable across systems building types -Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited program -Proven experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems -Application of Knowledge of Design -Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports
