Overview

Design fire alarm systems using CAD and codes

Tasks

-Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance. -Prepare submittals and material lists. -While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. -Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts. -Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations. -Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. -Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers. -Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes. -Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements. -Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred. -Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner. -High School Diploma or equivalent. -Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems. -AutoCAD experience preferred. Other drafting programs may be considered. -Minimum 2-year of experience of fire alarm designer experience. -NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred). -The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity. -Must have good communication and organization skills. -Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. -Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials. -Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral. -Valid Driver's License -Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
