Tasks

-Design and document electrical systems tailored to customer requirements. -Collaborate with other teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, and Field Service to improve integration and reliability. -Develop structured electrical designs, especially for high voltage and RF systems. -Travel by air, train, or car for field assignments. -Estimate time and resources for project tasks. -Develop and modify control system software and hardware specifications. -Ensure quality and performance standards through rigorous testing and reviews. -Manage project timelines and coordinate with HPES manufacturing teams. -Program or support programming LINAC control software or test equipment using LabVIEW or other software. -Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using sound engineering principles. -Support installation, startup, servicing, and modification of systems at customer sites. -Work in confined spaces and elevated platforms. -Create procedures for design, testing, documentation, and configuration control. -Review the existing circuitry and make proper revisions or corrections, if required. -Provide technical support with RF tuning, potentially training others -Use of test equipment and hand tools; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. -Interface with internal teams and external customers to enhance product features.

What You Bring

Under limited supervision, the Electrical Engineer at Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services (HPES) is responsible for leading major engineering projects or multiple smaller projects involving LINAC systems. This role includes the design, development, and troubleshooting of complex electronic and control systems from existing design through production and testing. The engineer ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of high performance systems, with expertise in RF power (425MHz), high voltage (100V – 30kV), instrumentation, and control systems. Qualified Applicants with arrest or Conviction records will be considered for Employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. -Proficiency in MS Office. -Altium experience is preferred -SPICE tools experience is desirable. -Experience at accelerator facilities, especially within HPES, is a plus. -Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. -High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities. -Visual acuity and manual dexterity for detailed work. -Ability to work independently and collaboratively in office and lab environments. -7+ years in analog/digital circuit design, power supply, vacuum controls, and EMI/EMP troubleshooting. -Normal color vision required.

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): A good faith estimate of the expected salary for this position in our California office salary range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire is $125,000 - $140,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
